The was a project for remodelling, rehabilitating and enhancing the value of the Palau dels Ossets de Forcall. This is a palatial-type building erected in the late 16th century and the early 17th century. The building type is an Aragonese Renaissance palace, structured on four levels. The masonry façade is topped by a typical gallery of small arches, covered by long, sturdy wooden eaves in the “Florentine” constructive tradition.
This palace was previously remodelled in 1997 for the proposed use as a hotel. In our recent intervention, the number of rooms was reduced to provide greater spaciousness and comfort, and the hotel was equipped with a spa containing sauna and relaxation area, using the existing space under the roof.
We were deliberately conservative with the aesthetics of this Renaissance palace, using noble materials such as iroko wood for outdoor carpentry, oak wood on room floors and some communal areas, and travertine marble in the restaurant and access area. Among the more significant measures taken, the project changed the location of the main access to the hotel, which is now from the beautiful public square adjacent to it.
