Ocular Medicine Clinic
The clinic is located in a two-storey building in a privileged area on the outskirts of València, the Plaza América, which opens onto the Turia garden and takes in start of the old Puente del Mar.The consultation rooms are situated upstairs, where the normal use of the centre will see staff and patients spending most of their time, thus optimising the natural light in most of the indoor spaces. The ground floor is smaller and initially more open to street. This is where the surgical activities take place, so these windows into the exterior are used as advertising hoardings. The staircase acts as a focal point within this spatial arrangement, with a wooden surround that draws attention to it and transforms it into the linchpin of the entire centre. The materials have been selected to give an aseptic look to the consultation spaces, while the public waiting rooms seek a greater feeling of comfort, which becomes paramount in the styling of the design. In this project, the configuration of the rooms and visitor waiting areas were considered especially important. They are configured as authentic “living rooms”, creating different environments: reception area, playground, general ward, and pre-operative and post-operative rooms, creating a friendly feel that accompanies the patient throughout their time in the clinic.See more
