Tonilla country house

Contemporary architecture in a rural Mediterranean atmosphereThe project raises the renovation of a country house group placed in the Plana Alta region, Castellon, Spain. One of the start points and promoter’s main requirement was to keep the country house’s original esthetics, which had an important sentimental value for him.The group houses 4 buildings: main housing, guest housing, landlords’ housing and an area of common spaces (also known as choco) with living-dining room, rest area and barbecue. The main house was the most damaged building, and therefore, where a higher intervention had to be carried out. The aim has been to try to produce a project which kept that rural nature, but at the same time that was recognized as a contemporary architecture action. All that has been achieved through the use of double heights, with bid window panes that flood the rooms with light, and the use of materials such as steel, concrete and stone. The developed program is a typical high standing house, designed and cared in detail. Te house consists of first floor with living-dining room, kitchen, restroom, dressing room and gymnasium with terrace-solarium. In this floor we can also find the studio area that faces the living room. The group is articulated through the outside spaces, which have also been designed with a specific project, with the objective of giving projective coherence to the group.
